HAPPY 2007 !!!!
by Geert on Jan.02, 2007, under Personal
Hiya guys,
In the meanwhile I’m sober enough to write a short post π I just want to wish you all a happy New Year full of luck, love and success in whatever you’re doing.. As for my own New Year’s Eve, it was pretty cool. We had a nice dinner with some people first of all, which went along with champagne and quite a lot of wine π Of course at midnight we were counting down, followed by another wave of booze.. So by the time we went further on to some pubs, I didn’t even know which planet I was on anymore, but nevermind.. This is a once-in-a-year occasion so that should be fine π I got back home at around 6am after a pretty cool night π
Anyway, enjoy and make it a terrific year !!
Amsterdam Induction Training
by Geert on Dec.16, 2006, under Personal
Hiya !
I’ve spent the last 2 weeks in Amsterdam, doing something that’s called an “induction training”. Not quite sure what it means, but I came out rather brainwashed! I met a few people from my company from all over Europe; they were pretty cool π The plan is to meet up with each other again in the near future, probably somewhere after New Year.
A colleague of mine is going to celebrate New Year’s eve in New York, talking about style *cough cough* π Guess I’ll just do that in Antwerpen City muhaha.. Well anyway, Amsterdam was pretty cool although it needs to be alive a bit more during the week. Or perhaps we just came at the wrong time or something.. The few things that kept us really going was Cuba Libre, Borat and Bob Marley π Not in that particular order, even… Karina, Goran, Sonia and myself can easily be called the Four Musketeers *grin*
Duhh !

Erm ok… Looks like I’ve been neglecting this thing for some time now.. and right now I can’t really be arsed to write a whole lot either ! π It’s just that I’ve been quite busy with work the last few weeks – started to work for another employer whose name I *still* won’t mention ;). But anyway, it’s keeping me quite occupied, lots of stuff to look at, lots of new stuff and products to learn – and preferably fast too. So I’ll get back with some updates once I kinda find the time.
New job !
by Geert on Nov.13, 2006, under Personal
Today I’m starting to work for my new employer – whose name I won’t mention here of course – so I’m being pretty excited π
What I can say though, is that it’s a pretty large international IT company (USA based) and my role will eventually be consultant. A bit similar to what I’ve done before, but now it won’t be specialized in storage alone anymore. We’ll see how it goes, I’m ready to put all my effort and time into it π
Guitar lessons
by Geert on Sep.01, 2006, under Personal
I started going to a guy who is knowledgable and has played guitar for many years now. His name is Frank Arras and he’s my guitar teacher. He has around 70 “students” at the moment and also has his own (cover)band named Fake No More.
So I’m practicing and jamming on the guitar every day, there is an enormous amount of chords so I’m sure it will keep me busy for a while π Although you don’t need to know each chord; each type of music has its own sound, its own set of chords. Lucky me huhuhuΓ ! More updates on this coming soon I guess..
Barcelona city trip !
by Geert on Aug.07, 2006, under Personal
Heya !
I just got back from a 4 day long city trip to Barcelona. I went with my best friends; for me it was the first time in Barcelona, even the first time I went to Spain.
Barcelona is a great city with lots of things to see, so I took over 200 pictures. I think everybody will know Sagrada Familia, the huge cathedral which is actually under construction for a VERY long time now, Gaudi’s art, Nou Camp, etc etc. Football seems to be a very important part of daily life there, I’ve seen many people walking around in a “Barca” footballshirt, and I don’t think they were all tourists ! We’ve been to the beach too for a couple of hours – not my favorite occupation I must say, but sometimes sacrifices must be made I guess. On top of that, I got burned instead of getting a bit of tan. So next time I guess I’ll think twice before doing that again π
The famous “magic fountain” near the Olympic village has made a big impression, it’s gigantic and during the summer there’s a light- and soundshow during the evening. Going for a walk there is highly recommended ! I’m not so sure you should try the local “cod in garlic sauce” though, because it will keep your stomach and bowels busy for the night π I guess we’ll go back there someday, it was well worth a visit.
Time flies..

Time flies when you’re having fun.. Or so they say π Well, if you count watching the World Championship football fun.. then I already had a lot of fun this month.. Pretty much everything else is going in a real laidback kind of rhythm π
Short Update
by Geert on May.28, 2006, under Personal
Ciao π
Just a quick update on what’s going on in my life lately..
Yesterday evening I went to see X-Men 3 with my best mate and his girlfriend, it was an OK movie.. Effects were of course quite spectacular again, just like the 2 previous movies from the series. Something I’d recommend to watch on a rainy evening!
This best mate of mine is going to get married during the summer of 2007, he popped the question to his girlfriend a couple of weeks ago. That’s great news for me too because I can/am asked to organize the bachelor party that is supposed to lead him into his life as being a married man (spot the sarcasm?). And oooh yes, I’ll make him suffer, he will be sorry he asked me to do this π I’m not going to unveil any of my plans here because he might be reading this too.. So Kurt, if you are… Bad luck dude because you’ll only know it on the last moment π
Another thing that happened to me lately is the fact that I’m looking for another job. I’m not going to give details about the why or how, but I’m looking for something new!
Anyway I’ll try to update when something interesting happens π
Wisdom of Life

I gathered a few nice oneliners and things you just can’t miss in life !

Off to Italy !
by Geert on Apr.14, 2006, under Personal
Seems it has been a few days since my last post, but then again it has been rather busy! But ok, next week I’ll be in Italy π
I don’t really expect to start firing off posts when I’m on holiday but you never know of course. If I would have something really important to tell, you’ll find it here pretty soon. If not, I’ll be back in a week’s time! In the meanwhile be good and have a nice Easter (and holiday if you’re lucky). Hopefully they got much better weather over there than we have here at the moment because this makes me cry π
